Shared roots. A whole lot of soul.

On September 15, Kenny Sharp joined Ruby Amanfu at the National Museum of African American Music for Shared Roots, an opening-night celebration of AMERICANAFEST 2026.

Presented by NMAAM and the Americana Music Association, the evening celebrated the connections between Black music and Americana. Kenny brought his full band for an extended set, following a program that included Ruby Amanfu’s tribute to Dr. Paul Kwami and the Fisk Jubilee Singers.

The show marked Kenny’s first AMERICANAFEST appearance, bringing Brown Liquor Music into a space dedicated to the roots and continuing evolution of the American soundtrack.
